Isambard Kingdom Brunels Great Western Railway tunnel through Box Hill in Wiltshire, one of the longest railway tunnels in the world when it opened in 1841. Thousands of navvies dug it by candlelight. Legend says the rising sun shines straight through it on Brunels birthday, 9 April.
