Overview
The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel under the East River, longest continuous underwater road tunnel in the world when opened. Flooded to the ceiling by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and reopened after a major rebuild. Renamed for Governor Hugh Carey in 2010.
