Overview
Canadian Pacific tunnel under Rogers Pass built after deadly avalanches closed the surface line. Served until the parallel Mount Macdonald Tunnel opened in 1988, and still carries traffic. Grade of about 1 percent eased the earlier 4.5 percent climb.
