Overview
Single bore, two lane tunnel on the A2 between Goschenen and Airolo, for decades the freight backbone of the Switzerland to Italy corridor. A 2001 fire killed 11 and led to strict safety rules. A second parallel bore is now under construction to end the permanent jam.
